“When you light a lantern for someone else, you brighten your own path too.” – Buddhist Proverb
Our family experienced unimaginable loss at the end of 2015 when both of my beloved parents, Jack (“Pops”) Ridgway and Jodi (“Gram”) Ridgway, passed away from cancer just 29 days apart.
Our entire family was utterly devastated and we miss them deeply every single day. While their passing was heartbreaking, we find comfort in knowing that their love was never meant for separation — and that they were quickly reunited. We carry their memories with us, always, and their light continues to shine through the lives they touched.
Cancer has also left another mark on our family, but this time with hope. My uncle, Richard (“Dick”) Ridgway, is a blood cancer survivor, and we are profoundly grateful that Uncle Dick is still here to share his story of courage and resilience.
This year, I have stepped up as the Corporate Walk Chair of Blood Cancer United’s Light The Night Executive Committee. In this position, I hope to inspire fellow executives in Knoxville to personally raise funds to support the Light the Night event on Thursday, November 6.
Every donation is a beacon of hope for someone facing cancer. My family and I do this for Gram, Pops and Uncle Dick. Help us defeat the darkness and stand beside patients and their families when they need it most. My passion is to take part in the cure. Thank You!
