In 2018, I was feeling bad, and I went for a regular checkup – they couldn’t tell me anything initially. They did a blood test and my white blood cell count was outrageous. From there I checked into UT Hospital – they found out it was Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Cancer was no stranger to me as my wife, Barbie White, had just been diagnosed and beat breast cancer the year before. I had to go through 2 -30 days inpatient at UT, with two days of rest in between. In 2019, I needed a Bone Marrow Transplant, and my brother luckily was a 100% match. During my first 30 days of treatment, my brother had flatlined, but God saved him and therefore saved me. My wife, my brother, and my support system really helped me through my treatment.
For now, I am taking it day by day and I am happy to share that I am seven years cancer free! God is good!
